Who Is Considered an International Student?

Who Is Considered an International Student?
If you are not a United States national, and you will be entering, or have already entered, the United States with an F-1 or J-1 student visa, you should apply as an international student. Students who already reside in the United States and hold other non-immigrant visas (E2, H2, or L2, for example) are also considered international students.
Permanent residents of the United States, naturalized U.S. citizens, and U.S. citizens residing abroad and attending school outside the United States are not considered international students

    You can complete your application form in one of the following ways:

    Option 1. You have the option of completing our online application. Instead of downloading a document, you can fill in your information online.


    Option 2. Download the digital application form and fill it out completely. This form can be completed on a computer. Save the changes you make to the form. The application should then be uploaded with the other required document.

    1. Application fee $60.00 (non-refundable)


    • You can pay using the credit card. Download the Credit Card Authorization Form here. Please be sure to activate your credit card for international transactions.
    • You may also pay by check in the form of a foreign draft (a check in U.S dollars drawn through a U.S. bank). The drafts are generally available at most foreign country banks.
    • To send the fee via wire transfer, please send an email to oip.inquires@benedict.edu, and we will send you instructions on how to do so. If you write to us, be sure to include your full name, date of birth, and the name of your high school in your messages.

    Applications that are not accompanied with the fees will not be considered for admission.

    5. Proof of English Language Proficiency. Required if you come from a country where English is not the language of instruction.
    6. Proof of Sufficient Financial Resources
    7. Proof of Admission Payment
    8. Copy of Current Passport

    In addition to the items above:

    Your official Proof of English Language Proficiency scores like IELTS or TOEFL must be sent directly by the testing organization.

    Your official test score for SAT, ACT must be sent directly by the testing organization.

    Once we have received the complete application along with fees and other material, we inform you of our decision within 4 weeks via email.

    After the decision on your admission to Benedict College has been made, we send you an acceptance package.

    Once you have decided to join Benedict College, you need to pay the enrollment fees and if you want to stay at dorms, you need to pay the housing application fees.


    1. $3,540 partially refundable Tuition Deposit. If your visa is rejected for any reason, we deduct a $200 processing fees and refund $3300.
    2. $50 Non-Refundable International Dormitory Application Fee (Not applicable if you plan to live off campus)
    3. $50 Non-Refundable Admission Fee

    If you plan to stay on campus, you will also need to send a completed Benedict College Residence Hall application and contract. Click the button below to download the contract

    ISSUING I-20

    Once you have paid the enrollment fees and your housing fees (if staying on campus), we will review all your documents. We will contact you if any document is pending. After the review, we will issue your I-20 form and mail it to the mailing address mentioned in the application form.

    Upon arrival to Benedict College, you must bring the items below to the Office of International Programs (OIP). The OIP staff will welcome you to Benedict College and assist you with the registration process. Your courses will be selected during the registration process.

    • Passport and Signed I-20 form and I-94 (The I-94 is a small white card attached to the passport by the immigration official at the point of entry).
